Debatable is a program that has been created for students like you. People who are interested in public speaking.
Why? I wanted people from different backgrounds and different cities to come together; to learn from others like themselves.
This club helps us talk about different sensitive topics in the form of debates and group discussions, and it lets you state your points in a friendly environment, run by kids. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Now, let's get down to the details.
Before we begin, we have to know what a debate is. A debate is a structured argument. To understand this, we have to break this phrase into pieces. "Structured" meaning you have a specific side (opposition or proposition), you have a specific time to speak depending on the style of the debate, and you have specific criteria and rules you have to stick with. "Argument" primarily means a verbal fight, but in this case, it will be monitored and judged.
In a debate, two sides speak alternately for (proposition) and against (opposition) a particular topic. Unlike the arguments you might have with your parents, siblings, or friends each person is given a controlled opportunity to speak.
Now, what is a rebuttal? A rebuttal is simply an attempt to contradict or disprove an argument by offering a counter argument or countervailing proof, which means you have to use your opponents words against them.
We'll discuss how to debate, types of debates, aspects of debates and so many more things in the articles to come. I hope you enjoyed this!
